Case Study
Objective
Our client was looking to move its brand of psychedelic videos into a 360 VR experience. The challenge was converting regular video into a seamless VR version. The project was a prototype for testing the feasibility of the business model and the how the experience was received in a VR setting.
Reasons For VR
Every experience in F-Effect tries to transport people to a state of euphoria in 15 minutes. The immersive qualities of VR was hypothesised to be more effective.
Development
The videos were heavily edited in various art and video software packages to create a seamless 360 VR video at a reasonable resolution.
We also layered assets and custom shaders on top of each other to get the high-end immersive graphics that are currently present within the game. We used Vimeo for video hosting with the app making an API request when the user wants to download a video.
Feedback
Regular contact and feedback from our client was essential in making sure we accurately portrayed their brand in VR. It was also important for them to collect user feedback so we implemented a questionnaire within the app. The app acted as a prototype to test the business venture and they did not want to commit too many resources, before working out if it was worth extra investment. To keep costs low, they used a simple, free Google spreadsheet to collect the answers instead of database.
Immersive Experience
The final product executed what the client envisioned and was received excellently. The app had huge perceived benefits for people who have used the app. There have been claims of a boost in productivity, relaxation, energy and much more.
