Case Study
The overall aim of the game is to help Santa to deliver presents to children of the world.
An Interactive Escape Room Game
The game will start outside the log cabin, where players have to gain access to the cabin door to start the main game. Users then search for clues and work through a series of puzzles to unlock more rooms and get everything ready for Christmas Eve!
Interactive Animations
We bring the game to life by creating a cosy and warm Christmas theme, with animated sprites, such as the fireplace effect and snow falling.
Building The Gingerbread House
This is an art-heavy game so we sketched out our designs early on to get an idea of what each room would do. The game was heavily inspired by a series of old Flash Escape room games which are sadly no longer accessible due to the depreciation of Flash. However, there is a video of the gameplay here.
Preparing For Take-Off
Help Santa get his sleigh ready for take off. The reindeer reins need to be attached and a carrot needs to be given to the reindeer. After take-off, the final puzzle is to distribute the presents to the correct houses. Each house will have information about the correct presents.
How We Achieved It
We used Unity to prepare the art assets and rapidly prototype and design each scene. Although Unity has some drop-box functionality, most of the functionality is coded in C#. The work was focused on building extensions on top of Unity so we can rapidly release more escape room games in the future.
